I will start presentation with one young designer that I never actually liked. This season I find his collection one of the best.
ALEXANDER WANG
His label embodies casually cool downtown style, drawing, inspiration from '80's mixed with french chic and rock grunge. What I really like is how he finish every single style with so called "slowly rolled-out-of-bed" effect.
This collection impressed me first with adding a lot of knit wears in it, then with combining colors in very good way. As I'm big fan of black color, it is great to find it also in Spring collection.
I personally find the idea of making sportswear out of flat knitting and wearing it with high heels brilliant.
What I have noticed in all brands are transparent fabrics. In Wang's collections transparency is nylon. Not very typical but still popular enough. I have to admit Mr. Wang grab my attention and made me fan of his work.
BURBERRY PRORSUM
I decide to present Burberry Prorsum collection in same time like Alexander Wang's one, because I find a lot of common in both. First, of course, is using a lot of knitwear in collection. Knitting hats is something I find really interesting and great. I just admire idea taking something out of Winter months and bring it to Spring.
Otherwise Christopher Baily made fantastic work. I love brave combinations of contrast colors. As I'm coming from art academy, I have to say that only masters can mix contrast colors without making it looks disaster. In Baily case, he did it perfectly. He has brought sexy edge to the revered heritage brand. Baily unites punk with luxury and opulence. And while the house's legendary coats still dominate, they serve as a canvas for Baily's covetable and profitable art. i am really huge fan of this young designer work and I have to admit from season to season I like it more and more and every time I think myself- this is his top, he surprise me again and again.
